Three Russian-language songs top the charts in Ukraine

Songs by three Russian rappers topped the Spotify streaming service charts in Ukraine, a NEWS.ru correspondent noted. The first place went to the joint hit by Kizaru (Oleg Nechiporenko) and Icegergert (Georgy Gergert) — Fake ID. The second and third places went to the young performer madk1d (Mark Serkov).

Recently, the first place on the Apple Music platform was taken by the song Homay by the Russian band from Ufa Ay Yola. Ukrainians filmed videos to it and posted them on social networks. The top also included the rapper Alisher Morgenstern (included in the list of foreign agents by the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation). Five tracks from Alisher’s album occupied the first places on Spotify.

Earlier, the head of the Verkhovna Rada Education Committee, Serhiy Babak, said that it is impossible to ban the Russian language in Ukrainian schools either during breaks or in lessons, as this violates EU standards. The proposed bill provides for the right to use the languages of national minorities that are official languages of the EU.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal acknowledged that the legislation lacks legal grounds for banning or restricting a musical product based on language. However, according to him, in order to “ensure information and national security,” there is a need to improve the legislative framework.
